After winning her first WNBA Finals against the Minnesota Lynx in the 2024 season, New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu continues to make moves during the offseason.
First, the former Oregon Ducks star signed on to be an original member of the new 3-on-3 Unrivaled league. Playing for the Phantom Basketball Club (2-5), Ionescu has carried over her stellar play from the WNBA season, leading her team in scoring with 17.8 points per game.
But Unrivaled wasn't the only big news Ionescu had during the offseason. On Monday, Ionescu took to Instagram to announce her first Nike athlete tour in Asia, which will begin in March.
"It’s official!! Heading to Asia for my first Nike athlete tour. See you soon,"
Ionescu captioned her post.
Ionescu will be traveling to the Philippines and China starting March 10 to inspire young hoopers and to further connect with the global basketball community.
She will begin her tour in Manila, Philippines, where she has a whole lineup of events for the three days in the city. Next, Ionescu will head to Guangzhou, China, for two days starting March 14, "where she will meet local athletes and visit some of their most hallowed courts." Finally, she will make her way to Hong Kong, China, on March 16 to visit a few schools.
“I’m excited to connect with basketball fans across Manila, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, especially young hoopers," Ionescu said. "You can feel their passion for the game, even from New York. Together, we will celebrate the game, and I hope we inspire each other to achieve our dreams with dedication, commitment and hard work.”
Ionescu and Phantom BC will return to Unrivaled action on Tuesday, facing Alyssa Thomas and Laces BC.
