Unrivaled's last undefeated team went down Friday night with the Lunar Owls losing to the Rose, 72-63.
Angel Reese scored 22 points and grabbed 21 rebounds (with eight on the offensive end) for the Rose, becoming the first player in Unrivaled to have a 20-point, 20-rebound game. That probably shouldn't be a surprise, considering Reese was a double-double machine during her rookie WNBA season.
"Gotta make history," Reese said after the game. She was also the first player to ever be ejected in Unrivaled earlier this month, but this achievement will probably be more celebrated.
Chelsea Gray led the Rose with 26 points, as the team improved its record to 5-4 and maintained third place in the league standings, three games behind the Lunar Owls. Brittney Sykes was the third Rose player to score in double figures with 16 points.
The Lunar Owls were led by Skyler Diggins-Smith's 22 points, five rebounds and five assists. Allisha Gray followed with 19 points, while Napheesa Collier added 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Collier is coming off winning the Unrivaled 1-on-1 tournament, and earlier on Friday, ESPN reported that she split her $200,000 prize with her training and performance staff, in addition to Lunar Owls coaches.
Collier also drew an offensive foul defending Reese in the post that caused the Rose star to foul out of the game.
