Indiana stifles No. 8 Ohio State

Indiana took control early and never looked back, knocking off No. 8 Ohio State 71-61 on Thursday night in Bloomington. The Hoosiers (21-6, 11-5 Big Ten) shot 54% from the field and outpaced the Buckeyes in nearly every major category, handing Ohio State (22-5, 13-3) its first loss in four games.

Sydney Parrish, Yarden Garzon, and Shay Ciezki each scored 16 points to lead Indiana, which used a dominant first quarter to set the tone. The Hoosiers jumped ahead 26-17 after the opening frame and extended their lead to as much as 18 in the second half. Indiana’s offense and a strong defensive effort held Ohio State to 42% shooting and just six assists as the Buckeyes struggled to find a rhythm.

Jacy Sheldon led Ohio State with 18 points, while Cotie McMahon added 14, but the Buckeyes could never climb back after falling behind early. Indiana’s ability to control the tempo and limit turnovers — while forcing 21 from Ohio State — proved to be the difference.

The Buckeyes cut the deficit to eight in the final minute, but Indiana iced the game at the free-throw line, securing its first win over a top-10 team this season. With the victory, the Hoosiers strengthen their NCAA tournament résumé, while Ohio State looks to rebound with just two regular-season games remaining.
